Hurrah for Morgan Mill
This month we are finishing with student of the month with Kindergarten and Pre-k. The kindergarten class has fifteen kids so we picked two students. They are best friends; Haizlee Long and Khloe Chick. Haizlee has lived in MM forever. Her favorite thing about school is to go outside and play. She also likes reading. She has a dog, named Chloe; and two cats, Bear and Forest. She hopes to go to the beach this summer. She thinks MM school is “fun”. I asked her why she thinks that she was picked and she showed me the cutest smile and giggled. I knew the answer. Khloe Chick’s favorite things about school are the field trips. She liked the fish at the museum and is looking forward to going to the Ft. Worth Zoo soon. This summer she wants to go on a picnic. She likes MM School because of the “monkey bars”. Haizlee broke in and said that “we are turning into monkeys because of the monkey bars.” When Khloe goes home in the afternoons she likes to take naps. Khloe said that she was picked as student on the month because she was Haizlee’s BF.
This is the first year for Morgan Mill to offer Pre-K. There are eleven students in this class. The student of the month is Lalo Elizalde. You may recognize the name because his sister was chosen last month as the first grader of the month. He says that he was excited about going to school. His favorite activity is playing. He has dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks at home. He said that he lets his sister feed them. He said that he has learned his letters, numbers, days of the week, and months this year. He was chosen because he “is good”. He is looking forward to the summer so he can play with his toy farm. Lalo has a quiet disposition, but his big brown eyes will captivate you. Congratulations to the Elizalde family.
Camilla Buchanan has been chosen as Valedictorian for the eighth grade class and Kiran Shewmaker is Salutatorian. Graduation is Thursday, May 24th, 7pm at the Morgan Mill Baptist Church with party at the Community Center afterwards. May is always a busy month in Morgan Mill.
Saturday, May 12th is the day for Morgan Mill Breakfast at the Community Center and the Cemetery Reunion is at noon at the Tabernacle. Bring your favorite side dish and the MM Cemetery Association will provide the Bar- B-Que. This is a time for families to gather and many out of -town folks will return to Morgan Mill this weekend. The Morgan Mill Cemetery Book will be for sale for only twenty-five dollars.

Hurrah for Morgan Mill
In addition to last week students, there are six more eighth graders graduating from Morgan Mill. Brylee Seaboum will be attending Huckabay High School next year. She will be playing basketball and running track. In Morgan Mill, she played basketball, ran track, played softball, member of the drill team and cheerleader. Her best memory of her years in Morgan Mill will be the Thanksgiving Dinner. She liked serving the troops. Since she is the only one attending Huckabay this year, she is going to miss everybody. All the kids reminded her that she was not moving; she will still be in the neighborhood.
Noah Mendoza will be attending Stephenville High School. He wants to play in the band and play basketball. He will always remember Morgan Mill because he knew everybody. He said that he missed Michael when he moved last year, but the kids said that he survived.
David Clark, Jr. will be moving to Iowa this summer. His favorite thing was his moving to Morgan Mill. He really has not made any future plans. The first thing his family will be doing is looking for a house. We all wish David and his brother Jake, best wished for next year.
Christian King will be attending Stephenville High School. He wants to play basketball and run cross country. He has plans to participate in UIL competitions, debate, band, audio video, and chess club. His favorite memory was his seventh grade field trip to Houston and Fiesta Texas. They will be going to Austin this year for their eighth grade field trip soon.
Piper Slawson will be attending Stephenville High School. One thing I asked her was “how was Algebra.” This is the first Morgan Mill class to take Algebra and Spanish in the eighth grade. She said that Algebra was not for everybody. It was a challenge over the internet. She does recommend Spanish, though. Several of the kids said that it was fun. Piper plans to participate in theater and choir. Her favorite memory will be the Valentine Dances from seventh and eighth grade years. Something always weird happened. The kids did not go into detail on what “weird” meant. Piper enjoyed the bonding that Morgan Mill provided.
Taden Zeh has attended Morgan Mill for one month. He transferred from Tom Ball. He will be going to Stephenville High School. He will be playing football and basketball.
On Tuesday, May 8, the eighth graders will be placing flags on the veterans’ graves at the MM Cemetery. On Saturday, May 12th, we will be eating breakfast at the Community Center and lunch at the tabernacle for “Graveyard Working Day.”
